After upsetting the top seed in the semis, the #21 Cougars (14-7) ran out of steam in the Potomac Valley Athletic Conference championship game. Elie Lowenstein and Jaim Magendzo led the Cougars with nine points each.

MIDWEST

Rochelle Zell      64    Fasman Yeshiva    57

After trailing by as many as 16 points in the first half, the Tigers (17-7) dominated the second to win the IHSA 1A Arlington Heights regional title. Jake Silvers scored 21 points for Rochelle Zell and Sammy Vayngart and Brian Silverstein added 14 each. The loss was the first in six games for #18 The Yeshiva (11-5), who were trying to win the school's first ever regional crown. They were led by Doni Miretzky's 28 points.


WEST

Yavneh Dallas    80     Lake Country Christian    66

Ofek Reef had a triple double - 22 points, 16 rebounds and 14 assists  - and Mason Schwaber had 23 points and 14 rebounds as the #11 Bulldogs (27-6) won in the quarterfinals of the TAPPS 3A playoffs. Tyler Winton added 18 points and Justin Eber had 10 for Yavneh, who will make their third straight trip to the state Final Four and play Midland Classical in the semifinals Feb. 28.


CALIFORNIA

Cornerstone Christian       66      JCHS San Francisco        53

The #19 Wolves (20-6) fell in the championship game of the CIF North Coast Section Division 6 playoffs but still qualify for a spot in the NorCal regional tournament. JCHS fell behind early, were within five late in the second quarter but an 8-2 run to close the quarter put them in a 33-22 hole at the half. Cornesrtone then outscored the Wolves 16-9 in the third, and the closest JCHS could get the rest of the way was 10 points. Ethan Finestone had a career high 18 points and Toby Holm scored 17 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. Cornerstone's Ebert brothers (Jacob with 27, James with 15) combined for 42 points.
