Sunday

MIDATLANTIC

Jewish Day School 59 Barrack HA 58 OT

Zach Gross’ free throw with :00.7 left capped an overtime rally by the #14 Lions (10-8) after they had squandered a 14-point 4th quarter lead. The loss was the first of the season for the Cougars (10-1).

Gross got fouled taking a baseline shot after JDS got the ball on a risky move to secure the final possession. The Lions had come back from four down in overtime as the Cougars struggled at the foul line. With the score tied at 58 and :19 left, JDS opted to foul and possibly give up the go-ahead points. The gamble paid off when Barrack missed both free throws and JDS set up their final play.

Tyler Farkas led JDS with 16 points and Ariel Gershman and Jake Rulnick added 13 apiece. For the Cougars, Billy Cohen had 17 points and Ben Bernstein had 11.
