In an epic game fitting of this great rivalry, the Cougars squandered a 9-point second half lead and went down by two in the closing seconds of regulation when Shani Schwartz stole the ball at midcourt and drove in for a layup. But Berman tied it when Amaya Leibtag hit a layup off an inbounds pass with :00.5 left. The Cougars were forced to play the last few minutes of regulation and both overtimes without their top scorer, Jenny Kagan (20 points). Another leading scorer, Ma’ayan Zakheim (16), fouled out early in the second OT, but Maya August, who finished with 18 points, amd Meira Falk, hit key free throws to seal the win. Schwartz was dominant for the Lions, scoring a career-best 40 points.

The Falcons (6-2) closed the game on a 10-2 run, capped off by a 3-point play by Merle Kassab in the final minute to put them in the lead. Camielle Mosseri led Flatbush with 19 points and Simone Amkraut added 13. The Lions fall to 3-6.

Clara Rosen led a balanced attack for the Sting (5-2; 7-4) with 11 points. Hillel is now 1-4.
